Art Foundations/Intro to Drawing & Painting
AN INTRODUCTORY LEVEL HIGH SCHOOL ART CLASS WHERE STUDENTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE A VARIETY OF ART MEDIA, STYLES, AND TECHNIQUES. GRADES 9-12
2 Point Perspective Buildings
Students designed their own building, starting with a basic 2 point perspective composition. Pencil and sharpie.
Perspective Room Drawings
Students were asked to draw their favorite room at home using rules of either 1 point or 2 point perspective. Students learned to match angles, create value with lines, and finish with ink.
Shoe Value Drawings
Students learned a lesson in value drawing through these shoe studies in graphite pencil. One day of class was dedicated to a "shoe photoshoot," allowing students the opportunity to pose their shoes and control their own lighting and composition, which ultimately led to the success of this lesson.
Watercolor Candy Paintings
Students were asked to photograph their favorite candy, paying attention to lighting and composition, and re-created them in watercolor.
